To Ponder On A Sunday, Which Is A Good Day To Ponder

I'm a lady of leisure this weekend. And when I say leisure, you need to read it like, "Leh-szhurrr."

I am apparently a lightweight these days and had an encounter with some wine last night, which has left me hungover and lazy today. Hence, I have time to reflect and ponder.

1.) Is that really the Temptations singing on Rick James' "SuperFreak?"

2.) This time last year, I was really fucking miserable.

3.) Life without electricity would blow, but I'm sure I'd be much smarter and shit. OR A PIRATE.

4.) Who else has "Drummers' Salute" by the Royal Scots Dragoon on their iPod? Anybody? That's too bad because this is a dope little composition. Flawless. From the JFK Soundtrack.

5.) I'm glad I ate that huge breakfast. I deserved those eggs and potatoes. And that biscuit...Mmmmmmm...biscuuuuits...

6.) According to Rozalla, "Everybody's FREEEEEEEEEEEE to feel good."

7.) Everybody's getting Wired subscriptions for Christmas this year.

8.) My brother sounds like Darth Vader with a chest cold on the phone. STOP SMOKING, STEVE.

9.) I'm sure there are other things I should be doing besides laying here on my bed with my laptop in the AC listening to music. Actually, probably not.

10.) I may get another iced coffee. The tall dude is working today. We bonded over our mutual hangovers. Me, red and white wine. Him, sake and beer. I empathized with him. Been there.

11.) I'm not sorry that I like Michael McDonald's voice. I won't apologize for that.

12.) Going home for Laura's baby shower and to get my hair did next weekend. Also, planning on spending $800 on iTunes. You should see my iTunes grocery list.

13.) Dammit. I was hoping to make it through the day without thinking evil thoughts about WILL FRAGGLE.

14.) I miss Luther Vandross.

15.) I'm definitely getting that iced coffee.

16.) Now.

What one song would shock us most that on your current iTunes grocery list?

LOL, you pulled out a few chestnuts. I know we could go one for one in the "You have that song??" dept so I will henceforth cease and decist any wise ass comments about this posting. (Especially because I wonder if I am the reason you have Michael McDonald!!)

Chill weekends are great - sometimes I love some time to just listen to music and surf the web in the air conditioned comfort of my own place.

BTW, IS that the Temptations on Rick James' "Superfreak"? I had never heard that. Funny you should mention that. When I was last in Mystic in the A&P (which is the size of MSG!! You forget what non city markets are like...HUGE!!)I was flipping through a stand up display with bargain CDs (a bizarre mix...lots of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Blondie, 80's mixes, and things like "Juice Newton's Greatest Hits") when I spotted Rick James' greatest hits. I bought it for the drive back and cranked it way up (esp. also love "Give It To Me Baby"). It's pretty funny early 80s tacky funk and made me feel like I needed to pop in some Cameo...

    "STOP SMOKING, STEVE."

RockDog - Looking at my list here at my desk, I don't suppose there's anything too shocking. It all falls into line with my usual tastes. It's been pretty well documented on this board that I'm an "Indie Rock" whore.

I supposed the one most out of character for me would be "B.Y.O.B." by System of a Down. It's not something I would normally pick, but I like it.

Sam - I have long since loved The McDonald. Since way back in his Doobie Bros. days. Wow, it felt good to finally say that in public. I feel so free.

MFDC - Seriously. ARE YOU LISTENING, STEVE?
