Can It Be?

The following story sums up my personality perfectly.

Months ago, I was sitting in my mom's car waiting endlessly for Shawn to emerge from the ACME supermarket with a huge bag of cheese doodles (I don't remember what they were for...I'm assuming just general consumption), scanning the radio for something other than the same five hip hop songs. It was a difficult task since Philadelphia had recently been one of the latest markets to be swallowed whole by Radio One. There was almost no variety.

I tuned to the classic rock station and listened to a song that I instantly liked. Catchy and fun. Yay! Something to iTunes! However, the song was never identified. When I got home, I tried Googling the one lyric I remembered, but to no avail. Since I don't listen to much radio here in the city, I despaired of ever hearing it again, or at least soon enough to placate my impatient nature. I eventually gave up and then forgot about it.

A few moments ago I was sitting here, listening to my Yahoo! Launchcast radio, tuned to the Indie Rock channel, and lo and behold! The Song came on! Woo-hoo! I was so excited! Yahoo! identified it as "Walking With a Ghost" by Tegan & Sara. And I thought, "Of course! I should have known! Dummy!"

And then I thought, "Holy crap. I think I ALREADY HAVE THE SONG." I whipped out my iPod. Scroll, scroll, scroll. Yuuuuup. I already had it.

So, all at once I feel stupid and elated. YAY! I have the song and can now play it the fuck out, like I do with all my music! BOO! It really IS possible to have so much music you don't know what the hell you have anymore. And BOO-HOO!! My memory is clearly beginning to fail me.

After our badminton tournament this weekend, I'm going to force the Muppet to play Old Maid with me as a way of heading off further brain atrophy. That, and I clearly need to be consuming MORE caffeine!

So, where does the whole "nuts and boobs" thing fit in? Are we done with that already?

You kids and your crazy blogging impulses...always jumping from topic to topic like you've got crazy pants!

I think we've moved on from nuts and boobs, RD. However, you can feel free to keep the fires stoked by occasionally mentioning them.

But, as you know, there will soon come other double entendres.

I'm so jealous that you got to play badminton!

So fill me in, D...who is everybody?

I would like to use this space to confess that I really like the song "Your Wildest Dreams" by the Moody Blues.

I also like "Pure" by the Lightning Seeds.

I am not one bit proud of this.

    Laura!!!

    Hello!

    Say Hi to Laura everybody!

I'm sure you'll get to know who everyone is, eventually! But then again, we only have a few weeks untikl you pop and then are busy for the rest of your life!

OK, so, going by the blogroll:

MFDC - Master of the 'Ku is none other than the Motherfucking Dan Certa. Ridiculously hilarious and smart, killer haikus, and I highly recommend going through the "The Old MFDC Journal." You'll also enjoy the other features and links, as well.

Muppetita is Kelly, and she never effing updates, and now it will be all wedding, wedding, wedding...

Ramble On is Becca, and she just moved back to Louisianna in the midst of all this destruction. I'm sure she'll have an interesting POV into the whole thing. Her posts are always song titles.

The Kristoffer Carter Show! is my friend Kris Carter, the very root of all this blog evil! I know MFDC and The RockDog through him. He's very funny and very talented and very, very busy. ;)

Gayle Carter is his wife and had a little girl last year, so you should definitely dig through her archives...cutest baby ever!

The RockDog defies description. There are no words in the English language that could do him justice. Unfortunately, Finnish works, but I'm barely conversational in that language. ;)

CJ Sorg I found through MFDC's blogroll. He's quite funny and smart. He has a son who is super-cute. He is also a singer/songwriter whose music you will enjoy.

Terms & Conditions is Sam. He likes to blog about chocolate in an effort, I think, to drive me insane.

Editions of Me is his friend Sean who, when he updates, is quite funny.

The Rock Zone should be experienced in person. Be sure to click the link.

Divine Nonsense is Kelly's bff Taylor, who is also very witty when she actually updates!

Total eTeam! is a TwerpsWorld -supported, entrepreneurial effort by The RockDog.

I also have lots of other links you might enjoy. Check out www.dooce.com. Incredibly funny.

Other TW regulars are Sarah, Reggie, Steve, and the occasional anonymous poster. That's always fun.

Guys! This is Laura, my friend Victor's lovely wife who has become one of my dearest friends. Vic knocked her up and now she's about ready to POP! And it's a GIRL!!!

Do not worry about offending the pregnant lady, though. She's pretty fucking bawdy herself!

That happens to me all the time, usually in record stores. I hear something really cool and ask what it is, and it is almost always turns out to be something i already own.

Hey Laura! Deebo-tastic-licious forgot to mention that besides being indescribable (I took that as a complement...which I fucking hope it was) I also have a 19 month old son and a 1 month old daughter...they are cute, but apparently not cute enough to remember. Deebo has a short memory...I wont hold that against her because she also write good porn.

"CJ Sorg I found through MFDC's blogroll"

HAHAHAHAHA...it sounds like CJ was discovered in The Admirals leftover Chinese Take-out!

Ummmm, can I get the General Tso's chicken and 2 blogrolls...oh, make that 2 blogrolls with extra Sorg, please!

  • Danielle said...

CJ- I beg to differ. Did I not use basically the same descriptives for MFDC? And do we not all know I think he's a fly-ass motherfucker?

    Right?

Ok, so I'm thinking that I might need a more snazzy username...
    Any suggestions?

    Kelly...congrats on getting engaged!! Yippee!

And ofcourse, hello to all you fans of the amazing "D". Aint she great?

  • Danielle said...

    Aw, thanks Laura!

As for a snazzy username, I'm sure we can come up with something for you!

    Hmm...let me think on this...

Just to clarify, the cheese doodles were a gift to my father on Father's day. He only eats the puffy ones. Not the flacid, oily greasy ones. The airy...oily...greasy ones. Now, don't take me for cheap...I also made Danielle take me to 3 stores for the REALLY big bag of M&Ms. Pops hugged me for that one...that's a big deal folks.
