Dad Is Great! Give Us Chocolate Cake!

Yumm...I had cake for breakfast AND for lunch today! And if you'll recall from Bill Cosby: Himself, cake is a nutritious, whole meal which includes milk, eggs, and looooots of suga!

My friend Karen made Make-Out Cake and brought it into work so she wouldn't have to eat it. Make-Out cake is when you invite a boy over to your house to make cake and end up making out as well. But then you realize you shouldn't have made out and so you bring the Make-Out cake into work to be eaten by your coworkers because you can't bear the sight of it.

I can tell you it's very good. I can tell it was made with luuurv...

You might be wondering how I have the gumption to eat cake not once, but twice in one day. I will tell you that I am well within my rights; It's TwerpsWorld's birthday! At least, it was on March 31. And I totally "forgot" it because I was moving, etc...reading a Blog Birthday Tribute on another friend's blog reminded me of it. And so now I find myself scrambling to come up with a suitable tribute.

What comes to mind is this: I was a very different person when I started TwerpsWorld. I was also terrified. I worried about offending people, about whether I was a decent enough writer, or what would happen if I got caught writing at work! Early on I did abandon Twerpsworld, because I was not doing so well. Then I went back to it and found that writing it helped me feel good. And people started reading it, lo and behold.

I went back and read it all this weekend, trying to get a feel for how it has evolved. The early stuff if complete shite and I seriously considered deleting some of it. But I had to write those entries before I found my "voice", so to speak, so I left them up. Feel free to read them and then mock me mercilessly.

I'm just grateful I have a forum to speak my mind, whatever mood I'm in, and that you guys read and appreciate (most of the time) what I do here, and make comments which make me laugh and encourage me.

The blog has had many skins, literally and figuratively. Posts have gone up, posts have come down; chapters opened and closed. But it's my story and I'm proud to tell it. I'm proud of all the entries, even the ones that suck.

Here are a few of my faves. Thanks for reading. And no, I haven't called him.

In Which I Encourage the Overconsumption of Alcohol I feel like this is the post that started turning the tide toward my writing actually sounding like something I would write.

Divorced Kid Humor Some insight into my crazy - the part which relates to coming from a broken home. ;-)

Chia Pets Are Misleading This was fun to write, until the browser crapped out on me and I had to rewrite it from memory! I did a decent job, though. I was on a mission with this post. It's loaded with awkward sentences.

Difference a Year Makes I really like this post because this is me being humble. heh heh heh. It's very heartfelt.

I Have Some Complaints Recent. Vitriolic and uncharacteristic for me. Clearly wrote it after coffee.

O' Monday Morning; 'Twas So Indeed Post about The Party of the Year. Believe me. You wish you were there. What's up, Brooklyn!

Happy birthday to Twerpsworld! We all enjoy reading and will be back for more, and as for your writing, to quote a friend "Never apologize for boring, mundane posts. It's uncouth. "
